Marvel Studios recently detailed the latest phase of its cinematic master plan and it looks like there will be something for everyone with the latest offerings. The big announcement confirmed the existence of several movies we were already expecting and added three “mystery movies” that are all scheduled to come out in 2020.

The news directly from the comic book company included the reveal of a sequel to this summer’s sleeper hit, ‘Ant-Man,’ titled ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp,’ in addition to ‘Black Panther‘ being moved up to February 16, 2018 and ‘Captain Marvel‘ being shifted to March 8, 2019. As if fans didn’t have enough to speculate with three surprise films, Marvel has also revealed that they will be rolling out a new mobile game for iOS and Android systems where players can take the Avengers to school, literally.

Avengers Academy” is a free-to-play mobile game developed by TinyCo in partnership with Marvel that allows players to control teenage versions of their favourite superheroes as they take them through a typical school day in the life of a young Avenger. Players can customise and upgrade their own heroes and play by interacting with other heroes, going on dates, training their powers, and much more. Players are even able to customise the actual school itself, lending a bit of a ‘Sim City’ vibe to this superhero slice-of-life title.

Marvel Games creative director Bill Rosemann said that there’s so much to do in the game players will have a hard time deciding on their favourite part, though he admittedly likes the fresh-faced take on the heroes. “Whether it’s visiting Stark Tower or going on a date with Loki, players will soon be debating what’s the coolest experience of ‘Marvel Avengers Academy,’ Rosemann said in an interview. “…but for this lifelong fan, it’s seeing world-famous superheroes like Captain America, Black Widow and Iron Man reimagined into charmingly fresh but instantly recognizable young-adult forms.”

It’s been a while since we’ve had a new Marvel game to play on our smartphones. Given the success of the MCU, you’d think there’d be a lot more options. However, until Marvel’s announcement, some of the only comic book mobile games we’ve had available have been the collection of games at this site. It offers fun casual twists on Marvel characters like the Incredible Hulk, Thor, and the whole Avengers squad. The variations provide multiple game modes and the opportunity for players to try their luck with all their favourite heroes and villains from throughout the Marvel Universe, which should help keep us plenty busy until 2016. Casual games have been a great way for Marvel to put its characters in front of more potential fans by pairing its colourful cast with familiar titles that are fun for more than just comic book enthusiasts.

The next film set to feature the Avengers is ‘Captain America: Civil War,’ which is scheduled to hit theaters May 6, 2016. Devotees have been getting anxious with anticipation over new info on the sure-to-be blockbuster and it’s been reported that directors Anthony and Joe Russo are nearing completion on the first trailer for ‘Civil War.’ We predict that you’ll be able to see the big trailer in theatres with the first film of that other Disney-owned franchise, ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ – if it doesn’t leak online first.
